Take the Baby Shapiro Name Poll!

During the baby name decision making process, there's three names to which we seem to keep returning. Just for the heck of it, I set up a web poll to get a feel for what others may think. The best part is that votes are anonymous, meaning no one has to worry about hurting our feelings. So I invite you to participate in the poll below and to do so with complete honesty — after all, we won’t know who you are!

What's your favorite name for Baby Shapiro?
Nicole
Melody
Amanda

  • It has got to be Melody :) Then we can name our first girl Harmony...and they can sing well together :)

  • Melody is such a pretty name... It's rare, but not ridiculously so ( I do know someone with that name)... Really perfect!

  • Bradley, are you going to call Harmony "Harm" for short? : D

  • Speaking of nicknames, we realized that if we do end up going with Melody, she'll likely be called "Mel" as a nickname. I guess that isn't all that bad, but with the other options, you do get better nicknames.

On the other hand, she would never have the problem I've had with my formal name, Stephen. If I had a dime for every time in my childhood during school attendence a substitute teacher saw "Stephen" on the roll and pronounced it "Stefan" I'd be a rich man!

It's pronounced "Steven" people! Stefan has an "f" in it, not "ph"! Grrrrr....

  • Are you going to use one of the other names as a middle name?

  • Yes, we're considering using our "2nd place" name as a middle name. Though at the moment, Marcie has been very enthusiastic about the name "Amber" as a middle name option (if not a first name even). So if we went with Melody for example, name options could be:

    Melody Nicole Shapiro
Melody Amanda Shapiro (probably too long)
    Melody Amber Shapiro

In all events, we certainly have plenty of options!
