I know. And I have literally hundreds of other scenic shots on my computer that I didn't post on my website. Japan is a wonderful place. And, oy, am I going through food withdrawals. I'm dying for some Shabu-Shabu right now! :)

It's a do-it-yourself sort of meal where there's an electric pot in the middle of the table filled with boiling broth (or a teriyaki-based sauce if you're doing sukiyaki shabu-shabu). You dip meat, vegetables, tofu, and noodles in the liquid and it cooks very fast. Meat is usually sliced very thin so when the liquid is hot enough all it takes is two swipes for the meat to be cooked. That's where the name comes from: you say "shabu" with each swipe--thus "shabu-shabu" gives you a cooked piece of meat.

It sounds a little like a fondue, except for the fact that it actually gets cooked when you dip it... Yumm! : P
